Astroneer Packager | How to Use and Pack Items

Reorganizing your home base can be a tedious task in Astroneer. As it grows in size and you add more equipment and structures, you’ll probably want to change your setup to make it more organized. An essential item that makes moving and transporting equipment a whole lot easier is a Packager. That’s why in this guide we’ll not only show you how to make a Packager, but also how to use it to pack items.

How to Use the Packager in Astroneer

How to Use the Packager in Astroneer

You can unlock the Packager in the research catalog for 1,000 bits. You can then craft the packager from your backpack or from the Small Printer, which will require one graphite. Once crafted, you can use it to pack and store items.

To pack and store items, simply place the packager on any building or piece of equipment. However, do note that you cannot place it in an attachment slot. The light on top of the packager will indicate if you are using it correctly. Here is what each light indicates:

  • Green – It is attached correctly and can start packaging.
  • Red – you cannot package this item.
  • Black – It is placed in an attachment slot and must be moved and placed above the item.

With a go-ahead green light, simply interact with the packager holding down the use key (PC: F, Xbox: Y, PS4: Triangle, and Switch: X). This will package the item, allowing you to easily pick it up and transport it. You can package almost any item that came from a package. This includes almost everything, including platforms, base buildings, equipment, and even batteries. However, you can’t package up storage filled with items. The items will get removed, and only the storage will be packaged.

The Packager is a single-use item. That means, once you unpack them, the packager will get destroyed. And if you want to package something again, you’ll have to make another one. Nonetheless, it’s still a great way to move parts of your base around, or even transport items from another planet.
